Temple Beth Or is home to two wonderful volunteer choirs and to the Shofar Corps:
The Adult Choir has about 20 members who are an integral part of our High Holy Day services. Its repetoire included a vast amount of liturgical music from the traditional music of Eastern European Jews to the Western European classic Reform liturgy to modern day composers. Members become familiar with the Hebrew language as well as the liturgy of our services. This group is also open to anyone who loves to sing.
The Junior Choir includes about 25 children in grades two through seven. The choir sings at Shabbat Hallelu during the year and performs at additional venues. The repertoire the students sing varies from liturgical music to Yiddish folk music to Broadway show tunes. Being a part of the Junior Choir gives children an opportunity to learn more about Jewish liturgy in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere. Anyone who loves to sing is welcome in this dynamic singing group! The Junior Choir meets every Sunday after religoius school in the cantor’s office.
The Shofar Corps is an ensemble of congregants who learn the traditional sounds of the shofar. Join us! Learn to create the unique and beautiful variety of shofar blasts and participate in our Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services. All you need is a desire to learn and a shofar.
